Common materials used in waterproofing:

Bitumen and Bituminous Coating

Bituminous torch-on membrane waterproofing is applied for low slope roofs due to their proven performance. It is a bituminous waterproofing membrane and self-adhesive membrane. In addition to the self-adhesive compounds, asphalt, polymer and filler, certain resins and oils may be added to improve the adhesion properties. 

On the other hand, bituminous coating waterproofing or asphalt coating which is a flexible protective coating. The most common applications of bituminous coatings include areas under the screed. It is a special coating and waterproofing material for many surfaces.

Cement or Concrete

Cement based waterproofing is the easiest and is commonly used in construction. Cement based waterproofing materials are easy to mix and apply. Used in domestic wet areas – bathrooms and areas that are not in exposed to sunlight or harsh weather conditions, for example, bridges, water treatment plants, and sewage treatment plants.

Acrylic

An acrylic waterproofing membrane is created by applying liquid coatings that cure to form a rubbery barrier against water penetration between the substrate of a wall or floor and surface treated. It is usually used for roofs, to seal walls and floors.

Liquid Rubber

Liquid rubber is a multi-purpose, liquid coating that solidifies into a tough, waterproof membrane. It can be a protection against corrosion. The coating adheres to most surfaces that are not oil-based including concrete, stone, metal, bitumen, wood, PVC, metals, and zinc. Once applied to a layer, it forms a rubber-like highly flexible, seamless, elastomeric waterproof membrane.

Chemical

Chemical waterproofing is used for waterproofing cement and paints. Chemical waterproofing processes can include grout and epoxy injection, vinyl ester resin system, polyurethane liquid, polyurea coating, crystallization waterproofing, permeability-reducing admixtures (PRAS) and bituminous waterproofing. These chemical waterproofing solutions are commonly used to seal leakages on walls and for terrace house waterproofing.
